We’ve all been there. The to-do list runs long, the dishes are piling up, there’s things to be done and yet – you are stuck in a slump. I’m going to share with you my top ways to get motivated and start being productive. *insert clap emojis here*
I have lived by these methods the past week… I just returned from a two week trip a week ago. When I came back I was unmotivated, tired, and feeling just plain lazy. Now, at the end of the week, I’ve got the dishes done, productivity pumping, and ideas flowing. This is how I got motivated >>
Steps on How to Get Motivated:
1. Visualize your goals.
I guess if you have no goals, then the actual first step would be to set goals. They could be really simple goals; such as, having a stocked kitchen, getting appointments out of the way, or finishing laundry.
Once you have those goals visualize yourself meeting them and the relief you’d get from checking that off the to-do list.
In order to meet these goals, you’re going to need steps. For example, if your goal is to have a stocked kitchen, your steps would include making a grocery list, heading to the store to purchase those items, and putting them away when you return. Once you map out your plan of action, achieving the goals will seem much easier.
2. Listen to podcasts, Ted Talks, or other motivational speeches.
Here’s the thing about people who do podcasts or Ted Talks – THEY ARE MOTIVATED! Like, super motivated. And motivation is infectious.
Find your niche and start consuming content to get your day going. Play it in the car, while you do chores, in the shower. You get the point, you don’t have to cut out a portion of your day for this. Multitasking is alive and well.

- By the Book with Jolenta Greenberg and Kristen Meinzer
This is my favorite! These two women read self help books, then live them out for two weeks. They tell you how they feel at the end of those two weeks, and whether or not the book is worth the read. They’ll have you rolling your eyes, laughing, and even crying.
- GRIT with Jessica Stansberry
The opening says it all, “I’m Jessica Stansberry and I believe inside every successful woman is a little spunk, a lot of hustle, and a MASSIVE amount of grit.”
- Goal Digger with Jenna Kutcher
This podcast helps you define success and chase bolder goals. Her attitude is contagious and her content is incredible. 10/10 would recommend.

3. Plan Ahead
Planning ahead is essential to productivity. When I’m in my most productive season, I plan ahead for everything: meals, gifts, errands, social media posts, and more.

4. Get moving
Get the blood flowing and wake up your body. This will in turn make it so much easier to think clearly, get things done, and be happy. You’ll be more motivated and productivity will follow.
5. Reward Yourself
This may be the teacher in me, but rewarding yourself for a job well done is a HUGE motivator. Tell yourself, “if I accomplish this goal, I will have 30 min. of downtime or a scoop of ice cream”.
Now that I’m re-reading, this is DEFINITELY the teacher in me coming out.
Oh well, it works!
6. Last, but not least, take care of yourself.
If you’re tired and your body is telling you to slow down, listen to it. Now, this is only if you’re really tired. If you’re just being lazy, recognize that and take action with the previous steps.
